This post is especially for a non-profit organization and small business owner.  With over 50% of our clients in the non-profit or small business sector, I feel it is important to remind everyone that their website should have Google analytics code embedded.  This will allow you to measure all your hard-working marketing efforts as well as to identify the pain points your website is having.  Below is a step-by-step guide to getting started.  If you don’t know how to embed Google into your site, please contact us by filling out our Contact Form and we will try to help you.

Google Analytics:  The first step in finding out what works and what doesn’t

1: Set Up Google Account

Step up a Google account.  If you don’t already have a Google account you must first create one.  This will allow you to set up an Analytics Account.  CLICK HERE to get started.

2: Create Analytics account

Step 1:

Step 1

Step 2:

Step 3: Add the account name.  Google will also ask for your URL name.

Step 4: Select Measure your website

Step 5:  Get the tracking code. At this point, you may need your webmaster to help you paste this into the code of your website.

Step 6:   Start measuring.  Results are not live so you will start to see data the day after. You will see very detailed results about who visits your website, where they come from and demographics.  Google Analytics can help you determine where to advertise and what visitors have the most engagement with your site.  Understanding this will help you make changes to your marketing and to your website that you didn’t even know you needed.
