Donation Software Recommendations
by Lori Shecter

Our donation software recommendations stem from our experience as a non-profit web design company. Of course, we have a lot of exposure working with a variety of donation software platforms and speaking with our clients about them as well. Our recommendations are based on several factors, but our top priority is choosing software that integrates smoothly with WordPress, is easy to use for your website visitors, and offers robust reporting and CRM integration. Without further ado, here are our top three donation software recommendations.

Fundraise Up

Founded in 2017, Fundraise Up strives to become the best donation software for non-profits, and after our recent experience, we agree.  We Are Immediate started working with FundRaise Up in 2024, with our recent launch of Community Partners International. FRU makes adding forms to every page on your website easy, integrating seamlessly with WordPress.

This donation platform guilts users into donating, no matter how small the amount.  (And in this case, guilt is good.) There is a lot of flexibility in the type of campaigns you create, how they function, and the content in the actual donation form itself.  There is no upfront fee, but you pay as much as 4% on transactions.  We recommend them because we believe that every non-profit website should be a donation engine for your organization.  This software runs on Artificial Intelligence and it seems to work. All this and more is why it’s become one of our donation software recommendations.

  • Advanced reporting and analytics.
  • Integrates with most major CRMs such as Neon, DonorPerfect, Kindful, Blackbaud, Salesforce and more
  • Payments to increase your fundraising efforts including:  Apple Pay, Google, PayPal, Venmo, and more for international clients.
  • Quickly create campaigns for emergencies.
  • Telethon support and more
  • Recurring donations
  • Fee capture
  • Tributes

Donorbox

The final on our list of donation software recommendations is Donorbox. We found out about it from our client CCLR.org, and we were pretty impressed with the way it seamlessly integrated with our non-profit WordPress designs.  Other features that we thought were pretty mighty include:

  • Easy Setup and Integration: non-profits can quickly create customized donation forms that seamlessly integrate with our WordPress websites but also support Wix, and Squarespace, making it highly versatile.
  • Recurring donations
  • Customizable forms.
  • Low Fees: Donorbox charges a platform fee of 1.5% for the free plan, making it one of the most cost-effective solutions for smaller organizations.
  • The platform also integrates well with Stripe and PayPal, allowing flexibility in payment processing.
  • Advanced Reporting and Analytics: For those who need to dive into their data, Donorbox offers detailed reports and analytics, making it easy to track donations, donor retention, and overall campaign performance. This helps non-profits fine-tune their strategies and maximize contributions.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Limited design customization:
  • Free Plan Limitations: Large non-profits with complex needs may find the features somewhat limited and may need to upgrade to a paid plan for more advanced capabilities.

Conclusion:

These donation software recommendations represent the best options we’ve encountered as a non-profit web design agency. If you’d like a free consultation to determine which donation software is the right fit for your organization, feel free to reach out—we’d love to assist you!
