How do I rank in Google AI?  This article will show you where to start ranking your non-profit in Google AI results. This is good SEO practice overall. If you are already ranking in Google AI’s top 15 results, you can drop out after 3–5 weeks unless you consistently update and change your content.

Find the content – Use AI as an assistant, not to write it.

AI writers don’t replace content; they just make the process easier

Step 1:  Brainstorm topics – go on ChatGPT, Deep Seek, or any similar tool.  Another cool tool, from Neal Patal, is Answer the Public. Use this to create a list of topics about your nonprofit that people actually want to read about.  A good prompt:  “What are 10 topics that people search for when looking for SERVICE X”  or “what do people search for when looking to donate to an organization that does Y”.  Google Ad Tools can also help you find topics/keywords that people are searching for with their volume of searches

Example:  Asked of ChatGPT

This gives you a list of topics that can provide content for a month.

A list of 10 questions people ask when looking for a New York Charity that helps underserved children in poor-ranking schools. Here’s a curated list of 10 questions people commonly ask when searching for charities that help underserved children in low-performing schools in New York City:

  • Which nonprofits help children in underfunded NYC schools?
  • How can I donate to organizations supporting kids in struggling NYC schools?
  • What charities provide tutoring or after-school programs for underserved children in New York?
  • Are there NYC nonprofits that improve education outcomes for low-income students?
  • Which organizations offer mentorship programs for children in poor-performing NYC schools?
  • How can I sponsor a student in an under-resourced New York school?
  • What nonprofits focus on STEM or arts programs for kids in low-performing NYC schools?
  • Where can I volunteer to help students in underserved NYC schools?
  • Which charities provide school supplies and resources for NYC children in need?
  • How do I find nonprofits that fight educational inequity in New York City?

Step 2:  Research–  There are volumes of content on each of these topics, and it can be overwhelming to sort through everything.  Pick one, and use Google for summaries.  As you dig deeper, you’re going to find a lot of information.  But you can feed ChatGPT the link and have it summarize the main insights for every different one, in addition to uploading any PDFs that you might find.

Step 3:  Find content gaps-Use tools like Surfer SEO or Market Muse to analyze top competitors and tell you what you are missing.

Step 4:  Go back to ChatGPT and ask for an outline.  Do not use ChatGPT because you will not rank if you don’t have your own human voice.

Google’s AI overview- structure your content

It’s all about answering questions directly. Google only cares about how fast you can get to the viewer’s answer. It doesn’t care about the 1200+ long articles (that does still work for non AI search results).  Google AI  wants to summarize for people in really short bursts (2 or 3 sentences of content).  If you are not already ranking in the top 15, getting to Google’s AI overview is going to be very difficult. You need to be precise in the question and precise in the answer.  Google wants to summarize large chucks of information in easily digestible content.  Be very precise in your questions and your answers.

Step 1: Highlight your experience – add real experience.  In the 50 years that we have been in business, we’ve helped over 5000 children graduate from high school.  Highlight your experience

Step 2: Use natural conversational language –  Optimize questions: like what happens if, how can I find, optimize a human way

Step 3: Structured data – This means your code on your website needs to have F.A.Q. schema and you might not even know what this means.  You need an FAQ schema.  If you don’t know how to do this, We Are Immediate can help you

Step 4: Keep it updated very frequently.  The content needs to be updated at least every two to three weeks.  If Google finds another website that answers better than you, it’s going to use that other website.

Prepare for the future

It’s all about understanding humans and human behavior.  These changes have made everyone’s rankings drop in 2025.  Now, instead of concentrating on one keyword, you need to concentrate on Themes.  Going back to the “finding a charity that helps underserved children”, build a content hub with themes surrounding these articles
